J.W. Jennings began his career in funeral service in 1927 in his hometown of Etowah, Tennessee. He came to Rome, Georgia in 1931 and purchased a local undertaking firm and was joined by his brother, Frank Jennings, three years later. This began our family tradition of funeral service to Northwest Georgia.
We are excited that we returned to local ownership when Andy McGuire and Barry Miller formed a partnership to purchase the funeral home. With this change we also renewed our committment to our founding principle: "Each family you are serving deserves the best of yourself and your service."
The Heritage Chapel is a wonderful antebellum home and provides a tranquil setting for families and friends to remember, honor, celebrate, grieve, worship, fellowship, and pay final tribute.

Barry Miller originally oversaw the construction of our Oaknoll Chapel in 1998 and served as our first location manager. In keeping with our founding philosophy, our Oaknoll Chapel allows us to provide the best service to our families.
This modern, state-of-the-art complex provides our families a comfortable environment to honor their loved ones. Everything possible was incorporated to create a formal yet hospitable setting. A bonus is the added convenience of being located directly across the street from Oaknoll Memory Gardens.

Serving Bartow County since 1931 through our Heritage Chapel, we needed a location in Cartersville to better serve our families. Property with an existing home on Cassville Road was purchased, and in November 1977 the funeral home opened.
Beginning in a single story, four room farm house, we served families in an intimate setting for several years. As we began to serve more families, expansion of the facilities became necessary. The first expansion occurred in 1991 when the second story and a chapel were added. The last expansion occurred in 1995 with the addition of the lower lobby and three large visitation rooms which can be opened into one extremely large area.
The architecture of the expanded facility with its grace and charm pays homage to our Heritage Chapel. Elegantly and tastefully appointed, the facility is most fitting to pay tribute to your loved ones. Our staff can facilitate arrangements for those of traditional tastes as well as families with changing needs.
