Mrs. Laura Sheffield Long, 92, of Cartersville, died Monday, January 13, 2014 at Maple Ridge Healthcare. She was born October 9, 1921 in Bartow County and was the daughter of the late Levi Mort Sheffield and the late Hulda Lewis Sheffield.

She is preceded in death by her husband James B. Long, her siblings, Lenis Cox, Lydia Watters, Louise Smith, Lorene Martin, Leonard, Lesley, Lodis and Luther Sheffield. Mrs. Long was a member of Taylorsville Church of God. She was retired from Southern Bell with 25 years of service. She was a very giving person and enjoyed traveling before her ill health.


Survivors include her sister, Leila Bryson of Cartersville; her brothers and sister-in-law, Leon and Joyce Sheffield and Allen Martin; along with a sister-in-law, Mary Sheffield.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 15, 2014 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Reverend Doyle Watters and Reverend Jim Ward officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
