Obituary for Sidney M. Ruff

Mr. Sidney Michael Ruff, 57, of Cartersville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Cartersville Heights Nursing & Rehabilitation Facility, with family and friends by his side. He loved the patients, staff, and visitors at the facility, and would greet them with a hand shake and a sweet smile.

Born May 9, 1956 in Cartersville, he was a son of the late Elgie and Louise Ruff. He loved to attend church and at an early age attended the Cartersville Church of God, and was baptized by the pastor, Reverend Danny May. Later he attended Mountain View Church of God. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Maxine Eberly, Glenora Tatum, and two infant sisters. He will be greatly missed, but his family has comfort in knowing where he is. “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”

Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Doyal and Mary Jo Ruff of Cartersville; sister and brother-in-law, Myra and Bill Gaines, also of Cartersville; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a very special friend and neighbor, Mahala “Haley” Taylor.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with The Reverend Grover Hilliard and The Reverend Charles Moore officiating. Private interment will follow. The family will receive friends on Friday, two hours prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Masonic Home of Georgia, Post Office Box 4183, Macon, Georgia 31208, in memory of Mr. Ruff.
