Obituary for Meredith "Merdy" Brown

Mr. Meredith Leland “Merdy” Brown, 83, of White, died Friday, July 18, 2014 at Cartersville Medical Center.
A native of Bartow County, he was born May 17, 1931, the son of the late Justice Marlow Brown and Nannie Victoria Heath Brown. He was of the Baptist faith and was retired from Lockheed Martin. Meredith was a member of the Machinist Union. His grandkids referred to him as “Sweetthang”. He and his late wife were owner/operators of Jean’s Restaurant in White. He also loved to raise hogs. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Katherine “Jean” Twilley Brown; his brother, Marlow Brown; his daughter-in-law, Cindy Brown; and his granddaughter, Bridget Brown.
Survivors include his children, Billy Brown, Kristy and Joe Collum and Shane Brown; his grandchildren, Cody Brown, Katie Brown, Haley Hinton, Cassie Collum, Tony Collum, Lance Brown, Zachary Brown and Erica Lilly; his great-grandchildren, Garrett Collum, Ty Collum and Allie Day.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 20, 2014 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverend Dennis Huskins officiating. Interment will follow in White Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Sammy McMillian, Walt Kay, Doug Allen, Bill Allen, Billy Myrick and Michael Day. Cody Brown, Logan Hinton, Lance Brown, Zachery Brown and Tony Collum will serve as honorary pallbearers.
