Obituary for Harold J Hodgkinson Jr.

Harold J  Hodgkinson Jr.
Mr. Harold James Hodgkinson, Jr. 84, of Cartersville, died Friday, December 12, 2014 at his residence. Born in Waterbury, Connecticut on May 13, 1930, he was the son of the late Harold James Hodgkinson, Sr. and Winifred Mitchel.
Mr. Hodgkinson was a retired United States Army Airborne Ranger with 22 years of service and one of 130 students to graduate out of 1300 in the 1st Ranger Class of 1953. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam War. He was stationed with the 549th Rigger Company in Japan. He was also a Master Mason in the Emerson Lodge #738. Mr. Hodgkinson was a current member of Central Baptist Church.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 25 years, Barbara Hodgkinson of Cartersville; three daughters, Sharyn Metzner of San Jacinto, CA, Kathy Johnson of Fayetteville, GA and Becky Trull of Jacksonville, FL; his son, Harold Hodgkinson III of Forrest Park, GA; his step-children, Robert A. Stewart of Phoenix, AZ, Jennifer Cirba of Lehighton, Catherine Margrave of Winder, Georgia and Daniel F. Stewart of Goodyear, AZ; 23 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, one sister, Shirley Kahrmann of Jacksonville, VT; and one brother, Robert Hodgkinson of Sandy Springs, GA.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Friendship Baptist Church with The Reverend Charles Moore officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 P.M. in the Georgia National Cemetery with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Central Baptist Church, 43 Akron Street, Cartersville, Ga. 30120 in Harold’s memory.
