Sally "Kaye"  Meeks
Mrs. Sally Kaye Meeks, 64, of Cartersville, died Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. Born in Dunlap, Tennessee on February 11, 1950, she was the daughter of the late William Harrison and Betty Jean Thomas Layne.
Kaye was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She attended Northside Methodist Church. She was very proud of her family and always put their needs before her own. Kaye was employed by the Bartow County School System as a bus driver. After retiring, she worked as a cashier at Step Nā€™ Fetch It in Cartersville. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Janet Mabry.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Claude M. Meeks of Cartersville; her daughters, Holly D. and John W. Rice, Jr. of Cartersville and Christy L. and Lamar Abernathy of Cartersville; her grandchildren, Courtney Rice, Hannah McCrory, Ansley Dupree, Amy Abernathy and Abby Abernathy all of Cartersville; her great-grandchildren, Molly Dupree and Walker McCrory both of Cartersville; her sister, Marlene Lewis of Dunlap, Tennessee; and her brother, Brian Layne of Dunlap, Tennessee.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 29, 2015 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverend Jim Parham officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 ā€“ 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be John Rice, Lamar Abernathy, Andrew Dupree, Will McCrory, Rodney Smith and Cody Smith.
