Obituary for John William Oliver

Mr. John William Oliver,69, of Cartersville, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Evergreen Health & Rehab in Rome. Born in Hamilton, Ohio, May 22, 1945, Mr. Oliver was the son of the late LeRoy and Dorothy Tidd Oliver.
Mr. Oliver was a self-employed carpenter by trade and enjoyed playing golf, shooting pool, fishing, listening to music and laughter. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Gloria Willis.
Survivors include his sons, John L. Oliver (Bobbie) of Xenia, Ohio, Richard P. Oliver (Ann) of Xenia, Ohio, Richard Owens of Cartersville and Jeremy Owens of Euharlee; his daughter, Gwen Owens (Waymon) of Cartersville; his longtime companion, Joan Owens of Cartersville; 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Doris Metz of Xenia, Ohio, Patty Wilson of Wilmington, North Carolina, Beverly Bridges of Greenville, Indiana, Nancy Jo Palmer of Greenville, Indiana and Merle Fitzwater of Wilmington, North Carolina; his brothers, Don Karl of Wilmington, North Carolina, Fred Oliver of Fullerton, California and Calvin Palmer of Greenville, Indiana.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
