Obituary for Fred Eugene Chandler, SR.

Mr. Fred Eugene Chandler, Sr., 85, of Acworth, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at his residence. Born December 27, 1929 in Columbus, Georgia, he was the son of the late John Wilder and Susie Hill Chandler.
Mr. Chandler was a retired meat cutter of 47 years and enjoyed bowling, spending time with his family and friends. He was a devout Christian and a faithful member of Briar Patch Community Church in Waleska. He also served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Lavonia Ann Waddell Chandler; his son Derek Allen Chandler; two brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include his daughter, Stephanie Thompson (Homer Thompson, Sr.) of Canton; his son, Jimmy Chandler (Connie) of Rome and Fred Chandler, Jr. of Cartersville; 6 grandchildren and their spouses; and 9 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. , Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton with the Reverend James Bennett officiating. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.
