Obituary for Herbert L. Tucker

Mr. Herbert L. Tucker, 80, of Cartersville, died, Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Cartersville Medical Center. Born in Atco on July 23, 1934, he was the son of the late John Tucker and Ruby Groover Tucker.
Mr. Tucker was of the Baptist Faith and was a Mason. He was employed as a welder through the Ironworkers Union for many years. After retiring from Ironworkers, he worked at Southern Machine & Fabrication before his final retirement. Mr. Tucker was a veteran, serving from 1957 – 1959, having served in the United States Army. He was always very proud of his military service, getting involved and serving in many capacities at the American Legion for many years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by many siblings and step-siblings.
He enjoyed bowling, traveling many different places across the country to participate in bowling tournaments; enjoyed woodworking in his shop and fishing trips with his sons. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR racing on TV. Herbert was a simple man, who loved his family and a man of honor and integrity, who will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Mullinax Tucker; his children, Ronnie Tucker (Diane) and Tracy Tucker all of Kingston; his step-children, Debbie Hogan (Steve) of Cartersville and Eddie Flowers of Jasper; his grandchildren, Crystal Lee (Clinton) of Kingston, Morgan Tucker of Alexandria, Virginia, Savannah Flowers of Cartersville and Eli Hogan of Cartersville; two great-grandchildren, Tucker Lee and Angelica Lee of Kingston; his sister, Elizabeth Strickland; and his step-siblings, the Darby children, Bill, Horace, Elizabeth, Ruthell, Junior, Mildred and Ola.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at the Georgia National Cemetery with The Reverend Keith Guyton officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
