Obituary for Madge Lockhart Smith




Mrs. Madge Lockhart Smith, 94, of Cartersville, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2015 at her residence. She was born on August 4, 1920 in Woodman, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Elmer Lockhart and Roxie Allen Lockhart.
Mrs. Smith was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She loved her children and flowers. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harold W. Smith, Sr.; her daughter, Linda Lou Smith Chambers; her step-son, Harold “Rolan: W. Smith, Jr.; her brothers, William Phillip “Bill” Lockhart, Woodrow Wilson Lockhart, Wheeler Lockhart, Paul Lockhart, Ervin Lockhart, Harold Lockhart, and Earl Lockhart; her sisters, June and Opal Lockhart; her son-in-laws, James “Jim” Silvers and Jimmy Lee Brock; and her half- sister, Rachel Lorraine Allen Taylor.
Madge is survived by her daughters, Pamela Smith Silvers of Cartersville, Joan and Janice Smith of Cartersville and Shelia Ann Smith Brock; her sons, Jerry Alan and Amy Morgan Smith of Griffin, Terry Lee And Sharrion Barrett Smith of Stockbridge and Troy Elmer and George Edward Smith both of Hampton; her daughter-in-law, Reba Vaughn Smith of Lookout Mountain; her son-in-law, Jessie Chambers of Jonesboro; her daughters-in-law, Carol Carmack Smith and Jeanna Odom Boothe; 22 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2015 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverend Ronnie Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Ascalon Cemetery in Rising Fawn, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 6 -8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Smith, Larry Brock, Williams Silvers, Travis Smith, Richard Smith and Kevin Smith. Scott Brock, Michael Brock, Jimmy Smith, Stephen Smith and Harold Smith will serve as honorary pallbearers.
