Obituary for Jimmy R. Blackmon

Mr. Jimmy R. Blackmon, 86, of Cartersville, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2015 at his residence.
Born in Trion, Georgia on March 4, 1929, he was the son of the late Bob Blackmon and Fannie Davis Blackmon. Mr. Blackmon was of the Holiness Faith and enjoyed fishing, picking his guitar, gardening and working on lawn mowers. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Lois Mulkey; his sons, Jerry and Jimmy Blackmon; one grandchild, Teresa Lee Shirley; his great great-grandchild, Darrien William Blackmon; his brothers, Sammy, Mac, James and Earnest Blackmon.
Survivors include his daughters, Doris Lee of Cartersville, Lillie Knight and husband, Darrell of Cartersville, and Kathy Hardman and husband, Ricky of Kingston; his sons, Larry Blackmon and wife, Joanne of Summerville and Ronnie Blackmon and wife, Diane of Cartersville; 14 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his sisters, Betty Moon of Milledgeville, Thelma Hatfield of Trion and Brenda Sims of Summerville; and his brother, Benny Blackmon of Calhoun.
Funeral services will held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 2, 2015 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverend David Young and The Reverend Shane Banks officiating. Interment will follow in the Cassville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne Lee, Mickey Hardman, Steve Ghorley, Robbie Martin, Randall Martin, Raymond Banks, Kyle Banks, Tommy Blackmon and Lamar Blackmon.
