Obituary for John Milton Whitmire

Mr. John Milton Whitmire, 80, of Cartersville, died Monday, August 17, 2015 at his residence. Born March 10, 1935 in Washington DC, he was the son of the late Lee Whitmire and the late Lexie Bloodworth Whitmire.

Mr. Whitmire was a United States Navy Veteran and attended Cartersville Ward – Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a member of The Retired Men’s Group at the Bartow Senior Citizens Center and The American Legion, Carl Boyd Post #42. He enjoyed helping people and volunteered as an usher at his church and The Salvation Army.

Survivors include his wife of ten years, Patricia Payne Whitmire of Cartersville; two daughters, Eileen and Sandra; step-children, Cynthia Smith of White, Rhonda Skramstad of Hiram, Carey Hagadorn of Sautee and Scott Payne of Adairsville.

A Memorial service will be conducted at 16 Felton Place with The Salvation Army on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. with Bishop David Giles officiating.

Flowers will be accepted or for those who choose may make a donation to The Salvation Army of Bartow County in honor of Mr. John Whitmire.
