Obituary for Joseph Roosevelt Collins

Mr. Joseph Roosevelt Collins, 81, of Cartersville, died Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Tranquility of Cartersville.

Born in Mount Airy, North Carolina on September 2, 1934, he was the son of the late Garfield Collins and the late Jessie Snoddy Collins. Mr. Collins was a member of Grace Baptist Church for years. Joseph worked on his family tobacco farms as a young boy and later sold heavy duty equipment. During his career years, he owned and operated Kings Camp Marina, dba Glade Marina from 1970 – 1990 and built and operated Collins Corner Chevron before retiring with his wife, Frances. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia “Frances” Armstrong Collins; and a sister, Peggy Collins White.

Survivors include his daughters, Cheryl Devine, Carol Davis and Kimberly Collins all of Cartersville; his grandchildren, Jeremi Ragsdale, Christopher Davis, Cameron Devine and Rusty Collins of Cartersville, Sunny Boone and Casey Boone of Acworth; his great-grandchildren, Malorie Ragsdale, Madison and Riley Davis, Teagon Devine and Audry Collins all of Cartersville, and Collen and Claudia Rediger and Caylee Boone all of Acworth; and his dear friend, Evelyn Morrison of Cartersville.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with The Reverend Ralph Jenkins and The Reverend Doug Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Pineridge Memorial Park in Kennesaw. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, 2 hours prior to the service.
