Loved him so much! I loved how he always called us " his girls". I loved how every time I saw him he would remind us of when Beth "learned" to drive a stick shift!! He was a great daddy to us all!!

My condolences to the Hambrick family and many friends. Mr. Hambrick played a large part in my life beginning in elementary school. I was so proud to be a part of the greatest HS band, both marching and concert. He instilled a sense of value, ethics and hard work in me. The summer days were short for band members. Practice 3 times a day. He had the best eyesight of anyone! One mess up and we all went running back down the field to do it again. Mr. Hambrick instilled that music was important. I often think of those times and am forever grateful for the guidance from him and Jane. His memory will live on in the lives of many he has touched.

Mr. Hambrick was a great educator, teacher, mentor and friend. He was always ready to listen if you needed someone. I had the privilege of being one of his students at Cass High and also his son Johnny and daughter Beth, were both great friends of mine. He will truly be missed. Please know that your family are in my prayers.

The world has lost a great man but heaven is rejoicing to have him there. I know Tommy and Johnny was at the gate to welcome him. I can see those two looking for something to fix. Hope God knows what he's up for. We were so lucky to have had John and Jane and their family as our friends. May God be with them and give them peace and strength .Love you all.

To the family, may the pain of your loss be mitigated by the inspiring light of the life he led. Very seldom do any of us have the opportunity to be a part of something that is the very best of its kind. For so many students at DHS, "Uncle John" gave us that opportunity. The "Dixie Irish Band" was, indeed, the very best of its kind, in large part due to the unrelenting drive of John Hambrick to get each of us to reach down and give all that we had. It was clear that he loved us and we loved him right back. For so many of us, he showed us what it meant to be excellent and what it took to achieve excellence. His influence has followed me my entire life. I will never forget him.

I first met Mr. Hambrick in high school as my principal. He loved coming into the band room and watching and sometimes directing the band. Later years, I had the pleasure to work with Mr. Hambrick at North Metro Tech, even before the college opened. I loved hearing his passion to provide education to children and adults. He told me the story of how he was driving back from Atlanta and spotted the property (at that time it was a pasture), he stopped, walked the land and started the process for the land purchase where the college sits today. At North Metro Tech, Mr. Hambrick was a vital member of the planning and establishment of the college, along with Dr. Allen. In 2011, the new Cass High opened. We were fortunate to be able to arrange for Mr. Hambrick and Mr. Mike Nelson to join together for the final closing of the Cass High (now College and Career Academy). Mr. Hambrick opened the doors in 1976 and Mr. Nelson closed the school in 2011. It was such a sweet moment... Mr. Hambrick is a dear friend to my family and will be missed.

Mr Hambrick taught me flute (tried to teach me flute)from the 5th grade at Saxon Heights through 12th grade at Dublin High School. Being in the band was so important to the development of me as an individual and he had a tremendous impact on me. He was such a kind person and I felt supported even when I made a mistake. Mr. Hambrick will be remembered fondly by me and fellow band members, I know. I'm sad to learn of his passing.

This man put the Dublin Irish Band (formerly Dixie Irish Band) on the map. Hundreds of students learned to play an instrument under his leadership. I became a tuba player and continue to play thru high school after he left. He was a great man and a great leader. He actually came to my home and talked to my Mother when he wanted me to change from trumpet to tuba. I'm sure he will be missed by all whom lives he has touched. I am praying for the family.

I have known Ms. Jane and Dr. John since the late 1960's when Dr. John took over the Dublin High School band program. When he left Dublin, it was one of the best high school bands in the Southeast, if not the country. We had a tremendous amount of fun together, but band members worked very hard to earn all the kudos they received. Many of us were able to re-kindle our relationships when Jane and John joined us at our recent MegaReunions, and it meant so much to all of us. I am sure we will see Dr. John again in the not too distant future. God bless the family and we say a prayer for them all.

I have known since having him as my high school principal and later in life, I had the pleasure of working with him at North Metro Technical Institute for several years. He was one of the founding fathers of that technical college and worked many hours planning and developing that institute in 1987. He was such a wonderful Christian man with true ethical values for all to see as well as having a great sense of humor. He will be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him.
