Obituary for Vera Worley

Mrs. Vera Jones Worley, 87, of Cartersville, died Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at her residence. A native of Bartow County, she was born April 9, 1929 and was the daughter of the late Edward Frederick Jones and Virgie Avalon Cowart Jones.

Mrs. Worley was a member of Atco Baptist Church. She was previously a member of Gilmer Street Baptist Church. She was employed by Southern Bell from 1948 – 1958 but chose to be a stay at home mom after her children were born. She was an excellent seamstress, great cook and dedicated homemaker.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Thomas Jackson “Jack” Worley of Cartersville; her daughters, Melissa Walker and husband, George of Birmingham, Alabama, Melanie Toler and husband, Trey of Jackson, Mississippi and Mandy Forsyth of Aragon, Georgia; her son, Daniel Worley and Wife, Donna of Cartersville; her siblings, Margie Jones, Annie Crowe and James Jones all of Cartersville; her grandchildren, Melanie Walker, Helen Walker, Nathan Earl Walker, Dustin Barrett, Wesley Barrett, Nicolas Forsyth, Andrew Toler and Austin Toler; her great-grandchild, Paisley Barrett; along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Atco Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Boatfield officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Mrs. Worley will lie-in-state at the church on Saturday at 10:00 a.m., for one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends during that hour.
The Worley family would like to thank Mardella Speed for her loving care and for the care of the Amedisys Hospice staff.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
