Obituary for Marvin Mercer

Mr. Marvin Mercer, age 80, died suddenly on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at his residence. A native of Bartow County, he was born on April 16, 1936 to the late George L. Mercer and Allie Kelly Mercer.

Mr. Mercer was a member of Beat Line Baptist Church in Conehatta, Mississippi. He retired from Aubrey Corporation and was a veteran, having served in the United States Marines. He was a gun enthusiast and loved his dogs. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Willard N. Mercer and Hubert T. Mercer.

Survivors include his siblings, George A. Mercer, Bennie J. Mercer and wife, Grace, Linn B. Mercer and wife, Martha, Al Mercer and wife, Barbara and Florence Starnes and husband, Lamarr; his nieces and nephews, Norma Bohannon, Terrie Peoples, Karen Teems, Connie Mercer, Dana McElwee, Tim Mercer, Bruce Mercer, Michael Mercer, Lanny Mercer, Brian Mercer and Keith Mercer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 18, 2016 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverend Scott Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Keith, Brian, Michael and Christopher Mercer, Kevin McElwee and Mike Teems.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 41 Perimeter Center East #550, Atlanta, Ga. 30346.
