Obituary for Opal Vann Wisnom

Opal Vann  Wisnom
Mrs. Opal Vann Wisnom, age 91, of Cartersville died Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Fite Living Center following a lengthy illness. Born in Cottonwood, Alabama on July 26, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Short Vann and Minnie Lee Hoffman Vann.

Mrs. Wisnom was a longtime member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she taught the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She was retired from the State of Georgia and enjoyed reading and cooking in her spare time. Mrs. Wisnom was a sweet, precious, kind and Christian woman. She was an intelligent woman and managed her resources wisely. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Wisnom.

Survivors include her children, Dona Turner and her husband, Russell of Rydal, Kaye W. Brock of Villa Rica and Ginny Kimsey and her husband, Phillip of Taylorsville; her grandchildren, Allison (Brian) Earick of Cartersville, Krista (Andy) Harris of Taylorsville, Katelyn (Jesse) Fuller of Hiram and Kelli (J.P.) Bell of Spring, Texas; along with six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 24, 2016 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Reverend Richard Poe officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Flowers will be accepted, but for those who chose, donations may be made to the Children’s Ministry at Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Earick, Andy Harris, Jesse Fuller, Jack Fleming and Jim Owen. Tonya Newsome, Anna Phillips and caregivers of Fite Living Center will serve as honorary pallbearers.
