Obituary for Christine Ann Cummins

Early in the evening on Monday, March 6, 2017, Christine Anne Cummins (nee. Giard) passed away unexpectedly from surgical complications. She is proceded in death by her mother Helena Dalphene Giard (Nee. Beaulieu) in 2010, her brother, Thomas John Giard in 2004, her nephew, Jessie James Giard in 2004, and her father William "Bill" Giard in 1994.

Those who knew Christine were positively impacted by her contagious spirit and found an everlasting bond. Christine was a good friend to many and, for those who needed it, a second mom. Christine was a proud tribal member of the Ojibwe nation in White Earth Minnesota. Christine was born in Vancouver, Washington on January 3, 1953. Her family later moved to Lengby, Minnesota and then to Avon, Ohio. Christine lived in New London, Ohio until 1990 and then moved to live with her husband James W. Cummins in Cartersville, Georgia.

In accordance to her wishes Christine died quickly in her home in Cassville, Georgia. Christine was a straight shooter who didn't mince words even if it meant using a not so attractive four letter word every now and then. She imprinted on the hearts of many, it is with profound love and deep sadness that we say "Miigwetch, Christine", we are truly grateful to have known you.

Christine is survived by her husband James Cummins; her daughters, Michelle Gooding, Julie Lanagin(Nee. Cummins), Grace Santamaria (Nee. Bachman), Emma Hale (Nee. Cummins); her sons Jimmy Cummins, Joseph Cummins, Joseph Bachman, Seth Cummins; and two stepsons, Brian and Eddy. Christine was also very close to and is survived by her sisters, Mary Bunker (Nee.Giard), Michelle Ruggles (Nee. Giard), Rebecca Giard, and brother William James "Jim" Giard. Christine's grandchildren were the light of her life: Macy Turner, Melissa Santamaria, Kristy Santamaria, Isabel Santamaria, Acelynn Bassett, Scarlett Hale, Alexander Cummins, Olivia Hale, Ethan Cummins, Hudson Hale, and Willow Hale.

A memorial mass will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 12 Noon at St. Clements Catholic Church in Calhoun.
