Mr. Donald Lee Southern, 72, of Cartersville, died on Tuesday, May 2, 2017.

He was born October 10, 1944 in Cobb County, the son of the late Robert E. Lee Southern and Jessie Mae Dunn Southern. He was self-employed and a retired entrepreneur. He owns patents in various industries. He loved his family, enjoyed karate, his dogs and enjoyed flying.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Craig Southern; his children, Donna Gilner and husband Aleck, Leigh Ann Oder and husband Scott and Scott Southern; his grandchildren, Lehia Dean, Kaytlyn Gilner, Taylor Tuggle, Samantha Boswell, Jessica Field, Riley Oder, Charlotte Gilner, Hannah Southern, Erin Southern, Nathan Oder and Jakob Southern; one great-grandchild, Jayce Perry; his aunts, Ruby Hamby, Betty Dunn and Idell Henson.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 6, 2017 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverend Keith Willard officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 – 3 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Sweet Olive Farm Animal Shelter ASPCA and Paws Atlanta.
