Obituary for Irene Grogan

Irene  Grogan
Mrs. Irene Grogan, 81, of White passed away Monday, January 6, 2014, surrounded by her family, at her residence.
Born in Maryville, Tennessee on September 17, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Whitener and the late Nora Walker Whitener. In addition to her parents, she is preceded by her husband, Sam Grogan; a daughter, Margaret Thurman; a son, John Grogan; and several sisters and brothers. Irene was a devoted and loving wife, momma, grandmomma and great-grandmomma. She enjoyed going to church, fishing, quilting and embroidery.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Rick Garvin of Cassville; her sons and daughter-in-law, Billy Grogan of White and Waymon Grogan and Gwen Owens of Cartersville; her sister and brother-in-law, Omie and Jack Whitener of Cartersville; her best friend, Sarah Smith; fourteen grandchildren; twenty eight great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 10, 2014 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverend Steve Morrow officiating. Interment will follow in the Cassville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Gage Grogan, Colbie Clark, Phillip Turner, Mark Adcock, Dean Adcock and Keith Holbrook. Sammie Tanner will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
