Obituary for Charles Thomas Shepherd

Mr. Charles Thomas Shepherd, 73, of White, died Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Cartersville Medical Center.
A native of Bartow County, born July 12, 1941, he was the son of Ruby Lee Hunt Willis and the late James Fred Shepherd. Charles was retired from the City of Cartersville with thirty five years of service. The last twenty five years was with the Fire Department. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, painting and taking care of other people. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters, Jenny Mathis and Jo Hendix and brother, James Edward Shepherd.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mary Long Shepherd of White; his mother, Ruby Willis of White; his son, Charles Stanley Shepherd of White; along with his grandchildren, Megan Shepherd of Cartersville, Destiny Shepherd of Rome, Dakota Luallen of Rome and Grayson Storm Shepherd of White.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverend Kenny Jacobs officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral Home.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Mark Bagley, Ray King, Tim McClung, Ronnie Cowart, Mitchell Bagley and Chris Edge. The retired City fire fighters will serve as honorary pallbearers.
