Obituary for Willie L. Tidwell

Mr. Willie L. Tidwell, 74, of Cartersville, died Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Cartersville Medical Center.
A native of Bartow County, he was born July 28, 1940, the son of the late Raymond Tidwell and Mattie Bell House Tidwell Beavers. Willie was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he played Santa for many years. He loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his family, especially his children. He was also a member of Woodman of the World. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Tidwell; and a granddaughter, Chelcie Heirs.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Smith Tidwell of Kingston; his children, Pamela Morris and her husband, Danny of Cartersville and Velvet Elrod and her husband, Phillip of Cartersville; his step children, Deborah Reynolds and her husband, Alvin, Mark Butler and his wife, Linda, Carla Rutledge and her husband, Steven; his grandchildren, Daniel Morris, Mysti Lancaster, Kayla Elrod and Charlie Elrod; his step-grandchildren, Wesley , Blake and Devon Stubbs, Tara and Boedie Butler, and Garrett Rutledge; along with several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 20, 2014 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverend Ted Towns and Greg Patterson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Advocates for Children and The Flowering Branch Children’s Shelter at P.O. Box 446, Cartersville, Ga. 30120.
