Obituary for Robert Gravley Sr.

Robert  Gravley Sr.
Mr. Robert Lloyd Gravley, Sr., 77, of Cartersville died Monday, February 16, 2015 at his residence. A native of Bartow County, born November 18, 1937, he was the son of the late John T. “Babe” and Beulah Andrews Gravley.
Mr. Gravely retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation and was a member of the Church of God Gospel Assembly Church. Robert loved the Lord and served on the Deacon Board in the church. He loved his children, grandchildren and his beloved sister, Betty Hufstetler. He was also a man with a great work ethic. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Brookshire; his grandsons, Terry and Wayne Harris; his son in law, Troy Harris and his great-grand daughter, Ashley Harris.
Survivors include his daughters, Kathy Harris and Rhonda Kessell (Mickey) all of Cartersville; his son, Robert Lloyd Gravley, Jr. of Cartersville; his sister, Betty Hufstetler of Cartersville; six grandchildren, Tammy Harris of Cartersville, Melissa Lieving (Jerimie), Kassandra Brooke Kessell of Cartersville, Phillip Harris of Tennessee and Reverend Mark Harris (Amanda) of Cartersville Krystal Kessell of Cartersville; four great-grandchildren,Elijah and Malachi Harris, Hailie Lieving and Sophia Burk; his special friends, Dave and Gladys Hackett.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Peeples Valley Community Church with The Reverend Larry Hufstetler officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Mr. Gravley will be carried to the church on Thursday to lie-in-state from 1 – 2 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Johnny Gravley, Jenny Gravley, Dillard Hufstetler, Reverend Mark Harris, Elijah Harris and Jerimie Lieving. Dave Hackett and Doyle Gravley will serve as honorary pallbearers.
