Obituary for Louise Thurman

Mrs. Louise Barton Thurman, 79, of Fairmount, passed away on April 15, 2015 at her residence following a lengthy illness. Louise was born in Rydal on September 8, 1935, and was the daughter of the late Collie Mitchell and Emma Leona Charles Barton.
Louise was married to Herman Thurman on November 14, 1953 and was a homemaker. She lived her entire life in and around the Pine Log and Fairmount area. She was of the Baptist Faith and a member of Glade Baptist Church. She also attended Olive Vine and Mt. Pleasant Church. Louise was a devoted wife and mother and was a talented seamstress. One of her greatest joys in life was sewing for her only daughter, Mary. Louise was full of life and enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, camping, fishing and going to the beach. She was an animal lover and offered a safe and loving home to hundreds of rescue cats and dogs over her lifetime. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Blin Ledford.
Debbie Arrowood, Claudette Wells, Tonya Blackmon, Marsha Townsend and Renee Dodson were a group of devoted care givers that loved and cared for her daily.
Survivors include her husband, Herman Thurman; her only child, Mary Thurman McDaniel; her son-in-law, Edward McDaniel; her grandson, Jonathan McDaniel and his wife, Tori McDaniel; her brother, Charles Barton and his wife, Ione Barton; and her sister-in-law, Pollie Thurman Neal.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 18, 2015 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverend Keith Willard officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Log Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jonathan McDaniel, Bill Hunt, Jackie Thurman, Jerry Ballew, Shane Bowen and Terry Fouts.
