Obituary for Myrtle McBurnett

Mrs. Myrtle McBurnett, 100, of Cartersville, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Waldrop Assisted Living. A native of Bartow County, born June 14,1915, she was the daughter of the late James Green and Bessie Dodd Green.
Mrs. McBurnett was a homemaker and enjoyed working with her flowers, playing in the dirt, gardening and quilting. She was known for sharing her pies and cakes with others. She was associated with The Cartersville Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses. She symbolized her dedication as one of Jehovahs Witnessed in 1973. If you were around her for any length of time she would share scriptures from the Bible. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lane McBurnett; her daughter, Shirley D. Cagle; her son, Dennis Bud McBurnett; her sisters, Ila McStotts, Jewel Murphy and Kathleen Edwards; her brothers, Radford, Frank, Grover and Arthur Green.
Survivors include her children, Glenda Gray of Cartersville, Retha Collum of Cartersville and Harbin McBurnett of Calhoun; her sister, Nell Hunter of Albany; her grandchildren, Tammy Gibson, Rhonda Bohanon, David Collum, Glenn Gray, Brenda Padgett, Dennis McBurnett, Ricky Norton, Donnie McBurnett, Charles Boo Norton and Douglas Norton; along with numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, great-great-great-grandchildren , nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 11, 2015 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Brother John Roy Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel UMC Cemetery on Hall Station Road, in Adairsville. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Gibson, David Collum, Kolby Gibson, Robert Clements, Ricky Norton and Douglas Norton. Glenn Gray, Terrill Padgett, Dustin Norton, Raymond Townsend, Richard Townsend and Charles Norton will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. McBurnett lived a long and happy life and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
