Obituary for Shirley Ann Jackson

Shirley Ann Jackson, 80, of Cartersville, widow of the late Robert E. Jackson, died Friday, August 21, 2015 at her residence following a lengthy illness.

A native of Bartow County, born December 29, 1934, she was the daughter of the late James T. Stewart and Amanda Elizabeth Wiley Stewart. Shirley was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She loved her children and grandchildren and spent 30 years in the nursery at West Rome Baptist Church. She was a quiet person and enjoyed reading. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by grandchildren, Logan M. Jackson and Mary E. Jackson; and a brother, Ray Stewart.

Survivors include her daughter, Connie and John Searcy; her son, Ricky and Jennifer Jackson of Charlottesville, Virginia, Ron and Ruth Jackson of Ringgold and Robert and Barbara Jackson of Cartersville; her sisters, Bobbie Jean and Hugh Crawford and Maydene Taylor all of Cartersville; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and special friend, Melvin “Bob” Clifton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Cartersville with The Reverend John Searcy and The Reverend Barbara Davidson officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens in Rome. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home

Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky, Ron and Robert Jackson, John, James and Patrick Searcy. Honorary Pallbearers will be Timothy Searcy and Melvin “Bob” Clifton.
