Obituary for Dallas (Lightnin') Day

Mr. Dallas Lanier Day, (affectionately known as Lightnin’), age 81, of Taylorsville, died Sunday, May 8, 2016. He was born in Stilesboro, Georgia on April 29, 1935 and was the son of the late Goble Day and Rosa Bohannon.
Mr. Day was a member of Euharlee Baptist church. He loved music and played lead guitar for Spiritual Vision and Doyal Ruff and the Melody Makers. He also loved to garden.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Goble Day and Rosa Bohannon; first wife Clara Day, second wife Wilma J. Collum; Step-son Wayne Roberson; brothers, General Lee Shepherd, Johnny Day and Sister Barbara Ann Lecroy.
He is survived by his brother, Virgil “Bud” Shepherd; children, Darrel Day, Debra Crane (Ken), Dwayne Day, David Day, Terry Day and Becky Day; Step-children, Rebecca McFarland, Larry Tackett (Diane), Gary Tackett, Denise Cheek (Philip), Elizabeth Pilgrim, Dudley Pilgrim; 24 grandchildren, a multitude of great and great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 3:00p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Euharlee Baptist church with Reverend Bradley Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Church of God Cemetery.Mr. Day will be carried to the church on Wednesday to lie in state for 1 hour prior to the service. Visitation will be held from 5 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10th at the Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Jud Mobbs, Mark Coleman, Robert Sellers, Rick Darnell, Donald Cox, Dwight Glenn and Bill Qualls will serve as Pallbearers.
