Obituary for Franklin ""Frank"" Hicks

Mr. Franklin “Frank” DeWitt Hicks, 81, of Cartersville, died on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Cartersville Medical Center. Born in Stone Mountain, Georgia on March 16, 1935, he was the son of the late Charlie Hicks and Willie Moore Hicks.

Mr. Hicks was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church in Bowdon, Georgia and was retired from General Motors as a Millwright following 33 years of service. He was a very industrious man and enjoyed living at his home in Bowdon, Georgia. He was a veteran, serving his country in the U.S. Army. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother and will be missed by many. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Edwards Hicks of Cartersville; his children, Deborah (David) Dees of Loganville, Gwen Wegman of Douglasville, Darvin (Denny) Hargett of Tampa, Florida and Frank A. (Sheri) Hicks of Taylorsville; his sister, Ella Perdue of Gainesville, Georgia; his grandchildren, Michael Hicks of Lebanon, Tennessee, Jason Duke of Douglasville, Ryan Hargett of Tampa, Florida and Adams Hicks of White; along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, 2016 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Dr. Tommy Wright and The Reverend Scott Estes officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service.
